The Water and Sewerage Programme Macedonia (“Programme”) is aimed at ensuring sustainable supply of drinking water for the population in selected Programme Municipalities at socially acceptable costs. While the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MoTC) represents the Recipient as the Programme Coordinating Agency (PCA) at the central government level when carrying out the Programme, the public utility companies of the participating municipalities (“Programme Municipalities”) are the Project-Executing Agencies (“PEA”), which are in charge of the implementation and operation of their respective investment projects.

The programme concerns the rehabilitation of urban water supply and sewerage systems in selected medium-sized municipalities in the Republic of Macedonia: Gostivar, Kavadarci, Gevgelia and Radovish.

The programme is funded by German bilateral co-operation, with KfW as the lending agency and with funds from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and EU Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

The Project objective is to deliver funding for strategic investment projects in the Western Balkans in the environment, energy, transport and social sectors as well as for private sector development.
